Naturopathy is a form of natural medicine based on the idea that the body has an inherent ability to heal itself. Its belief is that any external problem which the body exhibits is due to an internal imbalance of some kind. The naturopath therefore aims to assist the body’s innate healing mechanisms.
By taking a complete history of the patient with acne, including past skin care, diet, cosmetics and medications used and the frequency and severity of flare-ups, together with an examination of the affected areas, the naturopath can get an idea about what factors might be upsetting the body’s natural balance. A variety of natural acne treatments should be tried before resorting to any of the synthetic chemical treatments out there which generally cost more and are often actually harmful to the skin and the body’s health in general.
A naturopath would suggest that the clogging of pores in sebaceous glands is due to poor nutrition. By consuming higher quality foods and obtaining the correct nutritional balance, the sebaceous glands produce a good quality oil which is less viscous and thus less likely to clog the pores. It also will nourish the skin more effectively.
However it is not strictly just the diet that is responsible for the acne outbreaks. There is normally some imbalance in the androgenic hormones naturally occurring in the body. If these hormones are not produced in sufficient quantities or maintained in their correct proportions then there will eventually be a malfunction in the way that the sebaceous glands operate. They will not produce oil of the appropriate viscosity and congestion of the pores is much more likely to occur.
Therefore what is needed is to get the body’s hormone regulating system back on track. Diet, exercise and behaviour are all involved and need to be modified on a permanent basis if acne outbreaks are to become a thing of the past.
You don’t have to pay a lot of money for expensive chemical preparations. Try natural acne treatments first.
